    Problem Changing the Passenger Headlight

I know this shouldn't be this hard, but I can't get the plastic cover off the back of the headlight to get to the bulb.

I read the manual to make sure I was doing it right, checked my FSM, and even took out the drivers side one to make sure I was doing it right--but still nothing!

It turns to unlock and gets to what seems like the fully unlocked point, but it won't come off. I'm thinking about trying to wedge a screwdriver in there to help pop it off, but something tells me it's still not completely unlocked or is catching on something.

Anyone else ran into this? What did you end up doing that worked? I don't want to break anything. I've got enough stuff to do as it is.

I know mine were a pain in the ass to get off. Just turn it to the left as far as you can and pull on it. If you have to, try using a screwdriver to gently pop it off.

I've tugged on it with all my strength. I can get a little 1mm gap started and then as soon as I release it, it seals again. I'm afraid it's still caught somehow. I'll try again once it stops raining. Thank you for your reply. Hopefully someone has run across this exact same problem and can tell me exactly what to do. Of course, monkeys could also magically fly out of the sky with JDM headlights too...

I forgot to mention there's a lot of oil and other gunk in that area. Probably would just make it easier if anything.

screw them, take them out and put jdm's in.

Seriously though, just make sure you've got it turned as far as it'll go. I know for me that was the hardest part.

Lol. I'm looking to buy Maz's car so I may get a nice car with those JDMs.

Is there a point when turning them that they seem like they're turned all the way, but still have more to go? That's the only thing I can think of right now.

I'm going to see how much turning it took to get the driver's side out and then compare that with the passenger side. That should also give me a good idea. Now, if this stupid rain would stop.

Mine do the same thing. If I try turning them off I have to keep turning and turning, it never ends. I have to practically force them off everytime. I have changed my headlights about 4 times and it's the same thing every time.

No, mine stop, but it still doesn't come off. I'm not sure if there's more to go on turning of they are just really stuck. Thank you everyone for your help. This is why forums rule!

Yes, I'm still having problems! This is driving me nuts.

Ok, I checked how far my driver's side needs to turn before it comes off and compared it to my passenger side. The passenger side doesn't turn as far, but it won't turn any more, either.

So what I need someone to do is check the same thing on their car--see if your passenger side turns the same or less than the driver's side. I've already tried prying mine a bit since I can't turn it anymore, but you can tell it's still hooked in. I'm thinking a wire is somehow caught in it, but I can't figure out how.

I really need to change this bulb or find out why it's not working. I drive too much at night.

Finally just had to pry the cover off. Only broke one of the 3 tabs. It was turning too far back. It didn't stop at the unlock position. You could tell someone else just messed it up when they took it off before. The unlock position is when the little triangle points directly upward. That's the magic point. Mine was at that point in the "locked" position to begin with.
