    loss of power

Well, i did a search on this and couldnt seem to come up with anything so if its been posted before i apologize i couldnt find it.
I first noticed this about 2 days ago and it does it randomly when im driving now sometimes too, and i cant think of what could cause it.
I only notice this when i floor it as well.... ill get on the gas and all off a sudden the car will accelerate hard for a second and then all of a sudden no power like as if i let off the gas and the tranny didnt upshift and i was engine braking(its an auto) it just feels like i let off the gas and the car slows down really quickly then itll accelerate again after doin that for about a second. The rpms drop a lil but nothing drastic and its not like the tranny is slipping. any ideas? thanks in advance

This could be a clogged fuel filter. If the filter is clogged, the engine
can starve for fuel with the throttle open. I've never seen this on
a galant, but you never know. It would probably make a nasty
sound when you floor it if this were the case.

It sounds more like a hydraulic problem in the transmission.
Low ATF level could cause this, or worn/stuck parts. Change
your ATF if you haven't done so recently, and make sure
    you use the right type.

sigh... probly a tranny problem then.... ill check the fuel filter and hope for that but wal-mart drained my trannie instead of my oil last time i got my oil changed and left me with no trannie fluid and 8 qts of oil and i drove for about 20 min, but i made them do a flush and fill and pay for a full tranny diag down at the local trans shop and the guy said he couldnt find anything so basically wal mart wouldnt do jack..... im prayin for the fuel filter, how often should it be changed btw?

There is no factory maint. interval for the fuel filter. In 8g's it isn't
even servicable. It's the sort of thing you do only when you suspect
a problem, or if it makes you happy to know it's clean.

Your walmart story is scary, but it's by no means the first time I've
heard that one. How dumb do you have to be... Anyway, if walmart
did the flush/fill, they probably put in the wrong kind and maybe the
wrong amount, so do check your ATF level. It wouldn't be going too
far, even, to have it flushed again with the Mitsu Diamond ATF.
You can find plenty of threads on TGC by people having trans. problems
after putting non-mitsu ATF in their car.

Running the car 20min with the ATF drained out can't have helped, either.
I'm surprised you were even able to get it to shift.

Can you even get to the Fuel Filter in the 8G I was told a while back that the fuel filter in inside the fuel tank and cant be changed, is that correct ????

Yeah, from what I can tell, that is the case.
