theoretically, it should.
anyone here know if a 2g gst starter will work with my 7g?
theoretically, it should.
"Theoretically" usually gets you swearing at your car.

true. but i don't see why not? if we use the 2gturbo flywheel, and the 2g turbo tranny bolts up perfectly, then wouldn't the starter fit perfectly as well? it's going into the same size tranny and flywheel.Originally Posted by ChikagoGTZ

I'm assuming that since you did not immediately come back into the forum screaming and cursing that the 2g Eclipse starter did, in fact, bolt up to the 7g Galant without much issue?

1997 Mitsubishi Galant 4G64 *R*I*P*
soon to come, 97 Copper GST 5spd, Bone Stock, for now...
The answer is YES, it WILL work.
My question is...is it stronger than the oem galant starter? Cuz I need another one myself!

Is it stronger? They are both made by Mitsubishi, so I assume they are the exact same quality part. If yours is just grinding upon starting, I wrote a howto on dsmtuners on how to clean it, and fix that.
Otherwise, they can be had at a junkyard very cheap, and I do recommend cleaning them.
no mine doesnt grind..it just doesnt do anything at times. I gotta turn the key like 3 or 4 times before I get it to do anything.
