Im looking at rims at http://victoriatire.com/wheels.html?&pkg_t...2099-03&size=17 Galant LS 2000 and I got interested in the Sport Max 922 silver 17" (page 2) So here are the questions. At 17" Am I increasing my stopping distance and 18" and so on... Also If I buy (let say) light weight (expensive) 17" rims somewhere else will this help keep the stopping distance down.
NOT really interested in buying a bigger brake kit. You know $$$$$!

there are many aftermarket wheels out there that weigh less than the factory wheels.
if you don't want to have a BBK, then don't. there are many people out there that are running around with plus sized wheels without a BBK.
you might want to do some sort of brake upgrade, like better pads and rotors to improve your braking capabilities.

Ill move it up a notch by getting the Sport Max 922 18's $135 A piece (they are the ones I really like, hence the post). But I'll try to balance it off by going with better brakes pads and rotors.

i dont have upgraded pads and rotors for my 18's doing fine. i dont race around all the time either, so im not too hard on em.
Go with Brembo or Powerslot rotors and some good pads like Axxis, PBR, or Hawk.
On a side note, I've got these for sale with Toyo Proxes 4 tires (70% tread) for $750 plus shipping.

If you don't race your Galant and aren't a super fast lunatic on the road, you don't need a Big Brake Kit at all. The best way to improve your braking is get better pads and stainless steel brake lines. You don't really need better rotors either. Stock rotors are fine unless they are warped. You might also want to go with some better brake fluid and do a flush. Even after that, your braking is only as good as your tires. If you buy a tire package on the web, don't settle for the crappy ass tires they give you. Try and upgrade to some better tires.
