well, it's a real B&M, and i read TONS of posts on tuners and talk about the replica shifters breaking, and i read some horror stories about the obx one, so figured it was a worthy investment to not blow a tranny or engine.
Say it aint so, that is alot of dough for a shifter.Originally Posted by Blue Ice

plus when you ordered your b&m theOriginally Posted by peanotation
b&m replica wasn't available yet.
just the obx "fidanza style" knock off.
the fidanza style ones suck cause they don't come with bearings. they jiggle like crazy, and have a rough throw to them. not to mention that the stock shifter trim interferes with it.
my b&m replica is a solid piece. i actually compared it to the authentic b&m that i sold in my 5 speed swap kit.
they are identicle when it comes to machinging. only differences are the steel for the shifter. and the aluminum for the pivot piece seemed to be harder on the B&M.
but they feel exactly the same

My replica has lasted a year so far and havent had a single issue with it. Probably one of the best "bang" for your buck mods for a 5spd. It changes shifting for the better. I ran with the stock shifter for a few weeks after my swap and thought it was nice, then I swapped to the Replica and it was a whole different ball game.
If anybody is 5spd or does the swap and does not get the Replica or B&M shifter, you shouldnt be driving a 5spd!
7g for life!
well after my swap i ran the stock shifter for 2 weeks......it was ok
then i got the stock shifter cut and rewelded...i took off the the the distance from the bottom bend to the top bend and welded the left over length of the shifter.....i love the results
now i have the b&m replica.....it has the height of the stock shifter but the trow are shorter.....i do miss the shorter height, but i love the trow........i think im going to cut 2-3 inches off the replica and weld the left over back on......it should give me the best of both worlds.....short height = less travel & short shifter = less travel....with them combine, i will have a really short travel just like the video game controller shifter...which is my goal....
by the way, my shifter has some play between the pink peice and the shifter arm.....i have it bolted tight but i can slip 2-3 index cards throught...any hints on how to get rid of this??

I love my SS, i even had it cut so it could be even shorter, its like a night and day difference. That and the cable and shifter plate bushings make it all wonderful.
