hey, i have carbon fiber material at my house along with the resin and hardner..i really dont kno how to use and dont wanna expermint right now...So heres my question...say i lay the CF on like my Fuse box or my roof, and just simply get it clearcoated with automotive clear..will it stay since it will be under a layer of clearcoat? :idea:

im pretty much 100% sure your way will not work. Your going to be "trapping" the CF under the clear coat, you wont really have anything to harden it or hold it in place. My guess is if you tried this, the CF would absorb the clear coat, It would probably take a ton of clearcoat to actually build up material on top of the CF. Your best bet is to do it the tried and proven way just like Cali did. I dont have the website, but there is some online forum like TGC for Carbon Fiber'ers? I guess thats what you would call them......

what site did you look at because I doing a report on CFRP and I haven't found make sites that explains the structural integrity of the hand laid process
