    5-speed swap with no lift?

ok i was just curious as to how many 5-speeders have done the swap w/o the use of a lift. I had a guy that was going to let me use his lift in his shop but he moved to another state. And the one on base is always always busy, there is like never a bay open. So was just wondring if anybody has done the swap with 2-3 ton jacks, jack stands, etc.... any and all help is appericated.

i've done two this way although im sure using a lift would be a lot easier.
having an engine hoist would help a lot though.

Doable, but a big pain in the a$$ - the auto tranny is one heavy mofo.

At least try and get/rent a transmission jack - sooo much easier than a floor jack.

I borrowed this one from my brother-in-law:

I also had to get taller jackstands and floor jack with a clearance over 28" to clear the transmission when it drops.

Ive pulled my trans half a dozen times without a lift. A lift is absolutely overkill.

I've done four 5 speed swaps with just jackstands and 2 floor jacks. You use one jack to support and raise/lower the motor and one for the trans. The one for the motor, you should put a wood block or a old phone book, or something between the jack and the oil pan to prevent it from caving in or puting a hole in it

Jack and jack stands, not as hard as you may think it is once you have knowledge of what you are doing.

i've pulled the tranny 3 times with only the use of two jackstands and a floorjack, did the 5spd swap with two jackstands, floorjack, and a piece of wood to hold the engine up
