in most cases a universal exhaust tip won't change the sound of the exhaust. only if its resonated or soemthing
If I go to a company's site (ex. - Borla or Skunk-2) and listen to the sound of an exhaust tip on a 4 cyl. Civic, will that be close to what our Galant's would sound like with that same product? I dont see why not...

My bad, I'm an idiot. I meant the universal mufflers.
its gonna sound different.
things like engine displacement, exhaust material and size. the length of the car the various bends etc are key player in the sound of your exhaust note. and as a result its gonna sound different

Try to find a 3g I4 Eclipse sound clip. They use the same engine, just with a slightly shorter exhaust distance from cat to tip of tailpipe. Should give you the best idea of what the muffler will sound like on the Galant.
thanks
If you leave the cat con, resonator(s), and muffler all alone, your exhaust will never be too loud. Most exhausts that come with "silencers" should probably be avoided, since they are usually of the "Hallow tin can" type. Which almost always produce a buzzing sound, in addition to the fact the silencer cancels out any hp gain you might have seen by replacing the highly restrictive stock muffler.
My Arospeed has a nice growl to it.. I was extremely pleased when I heard it.. with the silencer in (like the picture) it sounds damn near stock..

On that note, I have come to a simple conclusion involving mufflers and how they "sound". Tell me I am full of crap but...
I sold my old APEXi muffler to a guy who owns an Integra. When it was on my car it was a low growl, when on his car now it sounds like a lawn-mower.
That brings me to the conclusion that it is not specifically the muffler but the car that creates the tone. I know there are a lot more factors involved here that I would rather not get into (constriction, resination, diameter, etc.) so I'll just leave it at that.
My God, it's so simple... muahahaha
i just want sumthing loud... not f&f ricey buzzing... but as close to a rumble of a mustang v6 as possible with my 4 cyl
Whoa man...the rumble of a V6 mustang??????
lol, just an example as something not ricey... my friend just got a v6 mustang and it sounds good with the headers and cai, so thats what i meant by that. something not ricey
your not going to find any muffler that will make your 7g sound like any mustang, v6 or v8. Flowmasters just don't sound good on imports...IMO.
A lot of people here will recommend you the 5 zigen fireball; I'll recommend the Remus, both have great sound but the remus is very quiet at idle and cruising whereas I've heard the 5 zigen to a be very loud exhaust. But I'm sure others here can tell you exactly. No matter what exhaust you get...see if you get some custom piping bent up to make a full cat back instead of just the muffler.

Ummm, no! haha Dude, a v6 mustang will always sound like a V6, it will never sound like a V8. If i was you, i'd get the loudest assed ricer muffler i could get and rev it up all the time!! whoop whoop!
There you go, look at that sweet assed galant with the niiiiice exhaust tip!!
hahahhahahahahhaha! LOL!!!! That's one sweet ass exhaust tip. I bet he gets all the biatches.
i dont know what would get him more women... the exhaust tip or the tires lol
I'm going with the tires!! Forget the exhaust tip, you all should just get sweet dayton's like that! hahahaha
