The next step in my little project. Updated 2/22/07

So here's some pics. Working on modding the lower dash area to accomdate my alpine 9855 and the upper dash for my d1. Also wiring them up so that they both work. So here's a couple shots of the alpine mocked up and the d1 in it's final position. Also getting it wired up so that the cruise control switch will control the alpine radio. Oh and we can't forget the radios will stay on after the key is turned off until the door is opened, the same way it works in most gm and ford products. Thank you drive through first window.

thats pretty cool will look badass but why? i think you should incorperate a dvd unit considering the d1 already does everything that the alpine does, plus if the ampage and sound is better dont you have an amp hooked up for your interiors? still gonna look great either way im sure

Actually been doing this at work during down time, since she'd probably flip if I was doing this outside of work. Between this stuff and the switchpanel I've probably spent a good 30+ hours in the last month doing this stuff. Other than that she really doesn't care either way.

The dvd player will come in time. Either from a flipdown or a ps2 in the car. Yeah I have a 4 channel, but the alpine's got 4volt preouts vs. the d1's 2 volt. Then there's the time correction, 13 band eq, and the alpine cd changer and ipod interface I got for free. Then of course there's the obvious reason for me doing it. Because someone told me I couldn't!!! Yay me

A little update for those that care. Finally got around to starting the actual glassing, so here's a couple of sanpshots.

By the way, yes the alpine has been sitting in the mock up since the original post back in october. I feel accomplished I actually worked on my car twice in one week.

how much does the Alpine 9855 retail for? I might be looking for a new deck and I decided I want an Alpine, I just like the looks of them and that one has 4volt preouts.

either way it looks good, the finished product will look amazing. cant wait to see it.
