i really need to run my car.
how were you starting? any power braking or just chilling and easin into the throttle nicely, these are things I should figure out prior to hitting up a track and makng a big fool out of myself.

yeah, u should power brake, its helps a lot on the launch
sorry for the delays guys. the car is an automatic and I was powerbraking everytime. I found that the warmer the G gets the less she wants to do a quarter mile.

so i guess were about the same.. but i noticed that my first time was the best and then the rest were shit.. couldnt get any fasterOriginally Posted by Phil
Just a little trick in case you guys need a tenth somewhere. Get some windshield washer fluid. Usually you can find one that you're supposed to dilute with water. Don't dilute it, use it full strength. Put it into a windex bottle and put it in your freezer the night before you go to the track. While you're at the track, it should thaw out, spray your intake manifold down with it. If you can get your intake temperature down you should be able to shave a tenth. Trust me. If you're running 16.00's all day, you'll thank me. Just remember putting ice on your motor is usually prohibited at the track because you'll put water on the track. As long as you use an alcohol based liquid it will evaporate quicker than water. Just a little freebie mod. I don't want any posts about how its not worth it for a tenth.
seth, ima cry (jk).. i went to the track the other week and my cluch started acting up after the first run.. i got 10.923 on the first run w/ a .7 reaction time(wasnt ready) anyways.. i guess ill slap a slave and a new line on it and bleed it extra good and try again..
oh btw thats my 1/8th time.. i havnt gone to the 1/4 yet..

soon to come, 97 Copper GST 5spd, Bone Stock, for now...
You 1/8th is about the same as Kevins(Grims), in which he ran a 16.8 with his slipping clutch. Fix the clutch, you could run mid 16s all day.

I don't have my time slip. In my country there is no such thing as time slip.....if want to see yours u have to go to the circuit tower and look it up for yourself...no printer...
Anyway, my best is 14.7. I have 8g galant with 6a13tt FWD auto trans. The mods I have on the car: emanage ultimate, custom down pipe n 2.75 exhaust piping, HKS titanium exhaust, and greddy boost controller.
all i have to say is that running your car with problems isn't the smartest thing, but if i break something it just gives me an excuse to fix it. i did a pass witht the following problems:
Completely shot clutch
Bad lower ball joint
going bad motor mounts (had them checked, they are on the way out)
and my injectors are clogged (additive in the gas can only do so much)
best time 17.6
worst 18.3 - clutch slipped at take off and almost stalled the car
best reaction time .7
i was very disapointed, but the good news is by spring i will have fixed these problems and added some goodies. and try another pass! and yes i have a 5spd with intake.
FYI: the sticky stuff they put down is not your friend, for the whole day i had whatever i stepped on stick on the tire.

So on average.... what would a stock 6G72 auto run the 1/4??
At our altitude? Mid 17's. I ran a 16.1 with 5 lbs of boost out at RMR if that tells you anything.Originally Posted by Mike_Rom

good shit man. now get yourself the ingalls engine stiffy and solve that wheel hop problem. you are definately on the fast track. what was your rolling setup? (tires, pressure, etc)
i cant wait to get back on the track with mine. the best i saw was a 15.4@ approx 93/94mph at 4500' elevation. ill be in the 13's when i get back dammit
I already got the stiffy. The car should be in the 14's, but traction has been a problem. I was at 15 lbs up front and 45 lbs out back, that was a weird experience.Originally Posted by boostzealot
Race weight was probably close to 3400 lbs, as I'm to fat and had alot of crap in the car.
That was on 205/55/R16's, and they wouldnt hook and wheelhop, or it would bog. I really didnt want to slip the clutch that much.
Should be better next time on some 225/50/R16's still at 15lbs, I shouldnt need to air down further. I'll also gut the car for the most part, and bring that weight down a couple hundred lbs.
All I need is an N/A 14.99 run and I'm spraying to 13's.

wow 3400lbs?! man i got mine down to 3040lbs the last time i weighed her. i havent cut any good times on the 205's i used to have. i now have the 225's and lowering the pressure made some difference but when you make as much low end as i do it doesnt matter. man i tried to launch in second and still lit them up all the way through second. i got a really good launch in first by letting it slip a little and peddling through first. that was when i cut that 15.4 @ 94. if i get a good launch i know she's a 14sec car here in utah which means trouble for those at sea level.
