    18x8 wheels...

    will 18x8's with a +42 offset wrapped in 225/40/18's fit if i'm getting teins s-techs without rubbing? or should i see if i can go with 17x17.5's?

    They will fit just fine. If it were to rub, it wouldnt be the the rim. It would be the tire that would be rubbing. But since its a 225 tire (which everyone has here), then it won't rub.

    Well, it could rub. Most people seem to be fine with that setup, but it could still rub on the fenders. I had some 18x7.5's with a +42mm offset and the same size tires as you and I wasn't rubbing with a drop, but when I got a rear camber kit installed, I rubbed. So, naturally, a 8" wide rim will stick out even more than my old rims. What I did to fix the rubbing was remove some washers from my camber kit leaving the camber at about -1 degrees instead of at 0 degrees. -1 degree is still within specs according to Mitsubishi.

    So, basically, you should be fine unless you install a rear camber kit. But, then you will wear out your tires if the camber is bad.

    Right now I'm running some 18x8's with a +48mm offset. There is a bit more room between the tires and fenders now.

    i really don't want to take any chances with rubbing so i don't have to get a camber kit or roll the fenders...so i'm thinking of getting 215/40/18's. so i wouldn't have to worry about rubbing.

    do you think this will help? or is it not that much of a difference so that it would affect rubbing?

    but there is a chance you might need a camber kit if you drop the car

    how much for a good camber kit?

    and if i got new shocks/struts would that help instead of having to get a camber kit...or would i still have to adjust camber? 'cause i plan to upgrade shocks/struts sometime soon.

    as far as a camber kit goes look at the tutorial section and do it like the rest of us. Get some longer bolts and some washers from Home Depot. It will cost you like 20 bucks.
    As far as the rubbing and the drop
    I had 18x7.5 inch wheels with 225/40/18 tires and I had no rubbing. I am dropped on progress springs 2.20" in front and 1.8" in rear. My camber was off for sure. I rolled my fenders in preperation for getting my new wheels 18x8 still with 225/40/18 tire. And when the camber was straightened out, I woulda rubber for sure, but the fender rolling helped

    Get the right size tires and just roll the fenders.

    225/40-18 or 235/40-18.

    but will 215/40-18's work well with my car/wheels?

    215s are very skinny on a 8" wide wheel. Your best fit on a 8" wheel is a 235/245. A 225 fits, but can look rather stretched.

    If I was you I'd run 235/40-18s and roll the fenders, you'll be much happier with the fitment.
