what happens when you try to start the car? does nothing happen, does the engine turn over, can you hear the starter, clicking sounds, anything?
Well, I think this is my first post in a long ass time. I will make sure to stop by more often. I'll post up the recent life happenings later...on to the issue.
Drove the car on Friday...didnt drive it all weekend. So I go to start it this morning and it wouldnt start. I've got a 3/4 tank of gas, as far as I remember I filled up a few days ago, so that should be good. I took out the back seat and I think I hear the fuel pump working...it's pretty quiet though, not like I thought it should sound and no clicking at all.
So I took off the black fuel line that goes into the right side of the fuel rail, put a bottle over it, and cranked her...no fuel in the bottle.
So, I didnt see any fuses that served the fuel pump, but if you guys know different, let me know.
Any help is appreciated, I'm hoping this is just my fuel pump...or a fuse. I'll check for spark later but I think it's good. Time for a walbro 255.
I also took off a few spark plug wires and noticed a very small amount of oil around the wire...not alot, but I probably have a little leaky valve cover gasket.
Thanks Guys, it's good to be back.

timing belt?
I dont think it's the timing belt. I've actually never heard of a V6 belt breaking...where's Manybrews when I need him?

it doesnt hurt to get it checked outOriginally Posted by ChikagoGTZ

Naw, I'd hear alot more fucked up sounds if it was broken...I'll take the cover off and check, but it was fine a few months ago. I'm leaning towards electrical or fuel pump, with 99% chance of fuel pump or fuel system electrical.

if it is fuel related you can try by squirting ether(starting fluid) into the intake and see if it starts. have someone crank it while you spray of course

Welcome back. Could it be something is blocking the fuel line?
try starting it with your foot on the accelerator. Its either a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator.
Welcome back!
Check the T-belt anyway. On my I4 when the T-belt broke, I did the bottle on the fuel rail thing and I didnt get fuel either so check it anyway it would be smart to do so.
get the balance shaft belt checked....
paid4.....99 galant
Did you check the fuel pump relay? I am not sure where its at on the 8g's..but I would check that.
You did check if you are getting spark right?

Ya, I'm getting spark...I'll check the relay (or is it a fused link?)....I'll also try to squirting starter fluid in the intake trick...where's my huffing ether?

Come on mr buzy rich big guy.
With all the money you are now making, you should be able to just drop it off a shop and pick it up the next day. :smt023
So when cranking the engine over, theres no fuel coming out of the fuel line? The fuel pump only turns on when the car is cranking or is on.
Try running a 12v wire from the battery straight to the fuel pump.
7g for life!
Nobody touches my car...I do all my own work :)Originally Posted by 9G

^true.
Someday your son is gonna ask you to drive faster and your reply with the Galant is "ride in your mom's Murano." :P :P :P
TLs are nice.
Well, I finally had some time and checked the following:
Fuel Pump...took out the rear seat, opened up the access panel, cranked the car, felt the pump working. So I took off the line and found that when cranked fuel shoots out (all over the place...heh)
Spark...checked for spark, yep, working fine.
Relays all looked good....not quite sure hot to diagnose these, but the diode inside looked good...I didnt check the MFI relay yet, I'll do this next.
So, I'm getting to the point where this could be an ECU issue...great.
Time to call the stealership and PM Manybrews.
