The amp you get should match the rms of your subs. So 175rms subs... so... aroun 175rms running on a 2channel in my opinion
Ok. I searched and found some useful info. I have 2 RE audio 12inch subs. From what ive read, i should use a sealed box because they are pretty much an all around enclosure (theyre good at all frequencies). My question is what kind of amps should i be looking for? Heres the specs of my subs
RE series
Electrical Q Value -Qes: 0.42
Mechanical Q Value -Qms: 4.27
Total Speaker Q Value -Qts: 0.38
Free Air Resonance -Fs: 20.0 Hz
Equivalent Compliance -Vas: 182 liters
One-Way, Linear Excursion -Xmax: 12 mm
Efficiency -SPL 1W/1m: 87.3 dB SPL
Effective Piston Area -Sd: 500 cm^2
DC Resistance -Re: 3.2 ohm
Nominal Impedance -Znom: Dual 4 ohm
Thermal Power Handling -Pe: 175 W
Force Factor -Bl: 15.4
These subs handle 250/175 [PEAK/RMS]. Im not looking for concrete breaking bass. Im just want something that sounds sweet and can be heard by people outside my car.
Heres my headunit too if it helps...
RMS Power Output 18 watts
Peak Output 50 watts
RMS Power Bandwidth 20-20kHz
Preamp Outputs 3 pair
Sub Preamp Outputs Yes
Preamp Voltage 4 volts
Thanks.

Alright thanks. I just wanted to know what i should look for as compared to walking into an audio store and getting sold some amp i dont need.Originally Posted by Divinity
to run it better, get a mono amp thats a true 400 watts and 1 ohm stable, something of a quality name like Hifonics or Orion, something high end.
Then wire it like so:
