    Really bad squeak/rub noise...

well it used to happen then it went away for awhile now its back and its pretty loud. it is coming from the engine bay somewhere and only happens when i turn the wheel. its not like a squeak, sounds more like a grind/rub. also my front passenger side suspension is sqeaking when i hit bumps. anybody know whats wrong? i really want to fix this ASAP

Last time I had a gridning sound occuring only when I made turns, my wheel bearing on that side was shot and needed replacement.

But that probly not be your problem I hit that tire into the sidewalk pretty hard, thats what killed the bearings..

    Just a thought though

its likely to be any number of the front suspension componants.

theres a high failure rate on the
    1)lower lateral arms
    2)upper control arms
    3)lower compression arms.

it could be any of those. has your vehical had the lower ball joint recall done to it?

    -=*Update*=-

Got it back from the shop and it was the lower ball joint. It was only $40 for the lower ball joint and some extra for the work. I know i could have gotten it replaced for free, but there are no Mitsu dealers within like 2hrs of here

No more annoying sound! Drives beautifully again

the noise is back! the noise from the suspension is gone because they replaced the lower ball joint and the noise in the steering went away for about 4 days, but its back...

Its a loud creeking/grinding/rubbing noise when i turn the wheel. Doesnt matter if the heater is on or anything like that, it will do it when i am at a stop. i checked the power steering fluid and it was a tad low so i filled it up but its still there. What do you guys think?

The last time i heard that noise on my car.. a grinding.. thumping ..rubing noise was when one of my belts came off , it turns out that i needed a new crankshaft beacuse that one was loose and the belts didnt sit in place...
i hade to pay nearly $200 to replace it

So the car is making noise only when you are at at a stop, as soon as you start moving it goes away? If that's the sound, then it is your powers steering pump. Mine's been doing that forever, and if I put some oil inside of it (on the shaft), the noise goes away, but then it comes back. So I got tired of listening to it and the solution i found was to turn up the tunes.

it doesnt matter if im moving or at a stop, WHENEVER I turn the wheel it will make this noise and it is rather loud. i have no clue what it is, maybe its just the cold weather?

My wheel bearing was shot on the pass side after slaming into the curb. It only made grinding sound when turning to the left with the car rolling. Could it be something with the stearing gearbox?
