Hmmm, it's a right facing, angled Swastika too... Yeah, the architect is a Nazi.
If this has been posted before, let me know and I'll delete the thread.
The building below, shaped like a Swastika - I'm not sure if this is on a Naval base in San Diego, but judging by the street names, I would assume so. And if it is on a Naval base, damn, what we went through during WWII and someone would allow an architech to design and build this building? Looks like a barack building, too. I know the Swastika symbol has been around for a lot longer than when Nazi Germany started using it, but usually (and correct me if I'm wrong), it was in the reverse image of how the Nazi's used it, not that it really makes any difference in today's world, but I thought this was interesting enough to share.
I first seen this building when I was watching this video on Youtube, about 5:39 into it:

^^ Dave Chappelle is a genius!
edit: I actually blame Bezzle for this building.

This is old..apparently they are going to (or have) knocked this down. It was on a base, it was a barrack and I think for a while they diverted flight plans so planes wouldnt fly over and see the building.
"Why fart and waste it when you can burp and taste it!"
Nope, that's left-facing and not at an angle.Originally Posted by Divinity

Your tax dollars at work: The US Navy will be spending about $600,000 to redesign or camouflage a 1960s barracks building in San Diego because of complaints that it looks like a swastika when viewed from the air. In the past this might have been a problem only for the occasional air traveler who happened over Coronado island, but with the advent of aerial mapping and visualization tools like Google Earth, everyone can see anything from the sky. In fact, many people have made a game out of finding oddities in satellite photos.
Now it's one thing to see landmarks like this and snicker over a designer's missteps 40 years ago (the Navy says it noticed the shape but that it didn't think anyone would see it from above), but it's another thing altogether to complain to the Navy about the shape of a building when viewed from space. But people really seem to have the time on their hands: The Navy says it's been inundated with complaints; enough, I suppose, to justify spending that much money on new structures and extra bushes. It's the first known case of its kind.
So what will the building look like when the job is done, I wonder? A set of four connected squares? A pinwheel formed from triangles?
Love,
Matt
For a minute, I thought you took some journalism courses there, Matt

Just add one building to the top left, and say it's the new Naval symbol or something... or just tear them down.. but I do think it's funny people complained about it

People complain about everything these days, however, this instance I could understand. But complaining about $3000 PS3's on Ebay... no.
Yeah $600,000 is a lot for a complaint, it sucks. I wanted my taxes to go to something like.... education

Yep, that's all of our money. I don't give a damn that a building resembles a Nazi symbol... who cares? It's not like it was intended to look that way.Originally Posted by Divinity
Apparently, the two buildings in front was supposed to represent U.S. planes bombing Nazi Germany.

Not sure if it's true, but makes sense:

I work in that building it is ACB-1 Amphibious Construction Battalion one www.acb-1.com it is not a navy seal building it is a Seabee building Construction Battalion, the building was built with the bomber plains in mind to be seen as attacking the swastika.
That's kind of neat, actually. Wouldn't want to be living in the Nazi building, though.Originally Posted by BGR
