Overall very good info, I think there was a hint of bias but it was for the most part dead on. As for the Jiffy Lube stuff, I worked for them for awhile and I wouldnt use one of thier filters or their oil, but its better than what most of thier customers are doing. I've seen customers go 15K + on an oil change only to bring it back to us when the engine started smoking. If you know any of the workers at these places you will know that some of them can do good quality work, the problem is just that, it depends on the guy working there. Now, there are more problems than these with Jiffy Lube, they deny lunch breaks, they dont really give breaks exept for the possible lunch break, and overall they really dont treat there employees fairly.
Another thing that wasnt mentioned was flat tappit cams. No modern car uses one that I'm aware of but it can frequently be a problem for older cars using flat tappits. The lack of ZDDP in modern API certified oils can cause a flat tappit cam failure in less than 1k miles. This to a degree tells me that there is some advantage to running a high ZDDP content oil in a motor your going to run the piss out of.
