wow, so you are swapping bell housings. Hopefully itll work out. I wonder if it works for manual trannies. cant wait this to be done! For some reason Ive always found 1g trannies in the yard, and never 2g or Galants
Okay so i was told i couldn't use my 1 mount tranny, cause i need a 3 mount Tranny..
Basic tools need.
10mm socket.
12mm socket.
One mount Tranny is a 1G.
Three mount is a 7G.
Both Auto Trannys.
I'll try my best to explain, step by step.
that i did.
First i set the Trannys side by side..
i look @ both.
they look the same but there not.
This a picture of the one mount Tranny.
No Side Mount.
No Side Mount.
Here's the picture of the Tranny you want!
As you can see on the cases thier completly different.
Heres how to fix that problem.
Take out all the bolts to the one mount tranny first so you Get the feel of what your doing.
after all the bolts are out around that part of the case do the inner ones..
and that case will pop right off.
Now do the same with the 3 mount tranny.
and u'll have a 3 mount Tranny.
Now thats not the end yet..
Now its time for censor changes!
Step 1.
See the plug deal under the shifter plug in.( in RED )
its pretty small..it pulls out.
But heres the deal.
See the censor below?.. thats what the picture above is about..
after it's pulled out take off the oil pan.. u'll see this device held in by two 10mm bolts.. Switch em.. but it back on like it was with the other one.
Now thats done!
Next step.
in the picture below your gonna have to swap em out..
Theres a pin holding it in that has to be Sqeeze together to get it out..
Next step..
Now this part isn't tricky..
The picture below has two pieces highlighted in red.
now only the one mount Tranny, have censors in that place..ones missing in photo though.
The three mount tranny are in this position..but the one circled is where the one on the front Case is gonna go..
Now it's time to move onto the shifter.
Switch them around Cause plug in's are different..
held on by two 10mm bolts..and the center ones a 12mm.
After all that it's ready to be put in, pluged in.. and filled up.
I will add better pictures later with more of a Hands on thing..
i just gotta clean up the Garage some!

So the 7g axles fit in a 1g gearbox?
Yes they do..
for an update.. The transmission is still going strong.

Gear ratios between 7g trans. I believe the 7g 5spd is similar to the 2g GS Spyder non-turbo ratios.

7G and 2G GS transmissions are identical so you are right Seth.

the axles are not. for the 2G at least
on Proto's eclipse his 7G axles wouldn't fit into the 2G trans. the hub side were ok but the tranny side the 2G is thicker.
