I'm not 100% sure but I think v6 revs higher then 4 cyl ..but im sure you can compare the clusters...i mean like v6 goes to 6.5k and 4 cyl goes to 6
I recently bought a mint conditioned, 2000 i4 gauge cluster from a junkyard today. I installed it on my 01 V6 due to my gas / temp gauge not working (at all). Everything is working fine except my RPM gauge is running like an i4 (on my routine stop signs, I accelerate to 3000 rpm to 2nd gear, but it reads I'm going 4200 rpm. ) It seems no matter where I go my cluster thinks I'm running 4 cylinders....
So my question is:
- are the gauges from a V6 and an i4 different from each other? If not, am I just going crazy?

Best bet is someone with a V6 get up to 30mph & then record the RPMS. Then post on it here so you know.
v6 redline is higher than i4 by 400 rpms if i recall correctly.
or 5750
I'm really concerned on how my rev meter differs from my old one.
I'll try to get more feedback tonight
cruise speed on 30 mph is at 1700 while this new one is on 2200
I figured when I cruising 70 on the freeway my rpm gauge is set on 2800 so I'll let you know how the new cluster is going to be.
I'm thinking it's off by 500 by I'll still give it more tests.
that sounds like the voltage signal variance between the V6 and I4 are different. You might need to get yourself another V6 cluster.

Genuine experience carries a lot more credibility than the ability to answer a question.
Man sorry to hear about the mix up but if you need to off load, i actually need a new I4 Gauge cluster as i blew the circuit board on the back. gimme a message if you wanna sell. also i rang a local junk yard here last week who haave a v6 dunno if they got the cluster though.
thanks for the feedback , for the meantime i'll keep the gauge until I find a suitable v6 one.
