FYI: the stock 2.4l 8th gen thermo is a 192 Degrees Fahrenheit. I found one that does 170, but there is an EVO one that does 152. Anyone know if the EVO is compatible?
still laughing at the puerto rico one LOL
i did that to an old mazada when i was 16 and in the summer it never got cool and seized my engine hahah. yeah, no thanks :)
incase anyone wants the 170 one:

seriously only use the OEM thermostat for your car.
When you start changing the coolant temperature, you start screwing with the ecu.
Your ecu uses coolant temp as a reference for timing advance.
If your coolant is cooler than its supposed to be, the ecu will pull timing and you will lose HP and fuel economy.
If the coolant temp is higher than its supposed to be, the same will occur.
Why are you so worried about your coolant temperature? Have you ever even seen it/logged it?
Or are you so hell bent on performance that you've convinced yourself that your completely inprecise factory temp gauge moved a micrometer to the right when you got on it one time?

I read the Evo one won't fit. Someone already tried it. Plus if your coolant temp is too low, you'll get a CEL for coolant temp too low
whats wrong with cooler or ambient temperatures. It only helps your engine run more efficient and extends the longevity of engine life. Does your cars timing retard when you first start your car? do you think you're damaging your vehicle when your coolant is at lower temperatures or do you prefer hotter coolant and other warm fluids?Your ecu uses coolant temp as a reference for timing advance.

read the above buddy, it will shorten the life of your car as the parts wont be running @ the temps they were designed for
nobody caught the other part of the sarcasm? "...and other warm fluids"
come on that shit is funny.
anyways i will run my car 22 degrees cooler and tell you how it goes. if i break something because of cooler temperatures I'll be a monkey's uncle.

No you'll just lose power.
and mileage.
I really don't get why you want to do this.
I went canyon racing with my big power turbocharged motor, factory thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, and a 50/50 mix of standard coolant and distilled water.
Driving balls to the wall for hours in high altitude and 95* outside.
Never even slightly overheated.
not even slightly.
