Usually the idle goes up when AC is on. Theres probably some kind of restriction in the rotating parts- check for belt being to tight, ot the AC compressor bearing is going bad

1500s kinda high for idling
When the temperature of engine is on operational rate, then idle should be 800. plus minus 50.
And if you turn on any equipment - defogger of rear window, ac or so, it should automaticly rise the idling.
