nice job, looks cool with only the fogs on
This is merely my experience with wiring independent fogs on a switch and relay according to Korty's directions found here \/\/
https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=19055
Now the reason i post this is because i have a 2001 galant and as we all know, it has many differences from the 02 03 galant and i found that out while wiring and figured this would help.
I'd also like to apologize in advance if you think the wiring looks sloppy, i plan on fixing it sometime this weekend...
Anyways,
WHAT I USED:
-Automotive relay from Radioshack
-Automotive rocker switch with LED also from Radioshack
-Electric tape
-Spade lugs
-crimper/stripper/cutter tool
-14 gauge (i wanted 16 but we already had 14 so i figured it was fine) electric wiring
-Electrical diagrams in the Haynes repair manual
-dremel
\/here is the electrical configuration we are essentially wiring that me and my dad came up with using the trusty Haynes book :)
\/\/our spade lugs attached to the switch (3 prongs because one of which is a ground)
\/\/some dremel action to mount the switch
\/\/mounted in car (not fully attached at the time because of electrical issues explained later...)
\/\/NOW THIS IS WRONG: As you may see on Korty's wiring pictures he extends the White/Black wire coming from the fuse box and tapes off the other end but as i came to find out, on the 00 01 galants, that end of the White/Black wire leads to the front ECU and not the fog light relay!! So with some simple changes shown next...
\/\/...I show that i than crimped off the end of the White/Black wire going towards the front ECU and extended the other end going to the fog light relay (ya its a little close and I almost had to cut back some tape)
\/\/14 gauge wire pushing through
\/\/a final look (ya you can see my ghetto intake mod haha, cones a lttle big but a friend gave it to me for free)

i also figured this would help anyone who was wondering why their fogs arent working, hopefully less questions Korty has to answer if any ever come up along these lines haha

Do ya think there would be a way to keep the stock switch and make it to where you can have a second switch to turn the fogs on independently? Like via tapping the wires instead of completely cutting them?
if you can have your fogs independantly, can you have them on when you have your high beams on?
Good job how do i do it using my stock switch
why are u guys doing this. doesnt ure default trigger work? dont see the reason for all this work so u can get a different button.?

the reason for this mod is so we can turn on the figs with our parking lights instead of having to push the button everytime to turn them on
my saturn had this feature and i loved it, get in the car turn on the lights and drive
instead of get in turn on the lights then the fogs then drive
lazy americans lol :P but here in iceland the police will pull us over and ask us to turn them off and maby give us a fine... not like that in the US??
