i see. My HIDs didnt come with a 3-prong connector, they came with a red and black wire that i had to push into the 3 prong slots myself. so in essence when i get my h1 bulbs as long as they have that same red and black setup, i just have to slide those into my harness and replace the bulb using the old ballast wires

  2. #382
    yea..thats how i have mine
with an hid kit, you can basically swap out any Bulb type as long as they have the red and black wire that plugs into the ballast ,,so if you had h4 bulb and already have your ballast hooked up to the original h4 plug ,, then just swap out the bulb from the ballast with H1 bulb

holy projectors bat-man. I am so glad you all love these lights. I have decided that I am going to buy a set. As you know from when i originally posted this, I found them as I was beginning my build. They turned out awesome but I am having a hard time making a bezel for them though. I will post pics soon. I do love them, but these are just awesome. Still not sure about the LED's but love the halo's. I might just shave them out and fill them in and paint, but we will see. Maybe i can put my projectors in, because the cut off on these looked kinda funky. Anyone else think so?

since you guys made a thread about this. I have the a VIPER alarm installed. As you all know, the lights flash when alarm is activated or deactivated...if I buy these headlights...how do I make them flash too?

I don't want to fry the brain for the alarm.

  6. #386
Huh, i have a viper alarm and the lights dont flash when its activated/deactivated. BUT! as these lights plug right into the OEM harness there shouldnt be a problem and the alarm wont be messed with and will do the same, flash when activated/deactivated

if its just the turn signal bulb that is flashing then there should be no issues so long as you wire everything up right.

Here's how you adjust the projector beam pattern. I also made a post in the tutorial section.

After adjusting the headlights, I've determined that it would be impossible to achieve a beam pattern like yours. Notice in this old pic (I haven't taken any after adjustment pics) how the beam turns upwards? It's impossible to have a straight horizontal line like yours because of the projector lens. There is no adjustment that will make it straight. But after I made the adjustments, the beam is now much higher and I can now see hundreds of feet down the road, instead of less than 50 ft. - so the ugly cutoff line isn't as bad as it used to be.

The two yellow arrows on the left are the driver's side pattern and the black arrow and yellow arrow on the right is the passenger side pattern.

that's good. I didnt mean you have to have a just a straight cutoff. its just the prjoector's design why you have that v. what you have to get horizontal is the left part of the beam...which you got about 95% straight. looks good.

I don't know if this has been asked... Since these lights are technically USDM specs... there should be no problem putting USDM eyelids.. on them right?

Shouldn't be a problem at all as the length is the same as stock US.
My GTS headlight covers fit on these as well.

It's been a couple years since I had stock headlights. I swapped those out for some aftermarket blackout headlights I found on Ebay, which were similiar to the 2002-2003 headlights, except it has a clear reflector covering the turn signal, as opposed to an amber reflector. Those blackouts didn't have all the chrome that the stock headlights had and the beam pattern was no where near the quality of stock; The light pattern with those headlights actually sucked pretty bad, but then again, all they need is to have the beam adjusted. (I'm holding on to these blackout headlights, BTW, just in case I need them).

Anyhow, stock headlights have a different bulb setup and a whole lot of chrome for the light reflecting. So when I had HID in the stock headlights, the light pattern was dispersed all over the place - there was no distinct cutoff line as you see with projector headlights. So are these projector headlights as bright as the stock ones? I'd say yes, because it's still an 8000k bulb no matter the light pattern; The actual light that hits the road surface, sign's, etc. is the same for both setups.

I tell ya what, I feel 100% better now that I adjusted the height of the beam. Before, I would pull up behind a car when I'm at a traffic light (at dusk, right before it gets really dark) and I would marvel at the brightness of the HID lights in the reflection of the car's bumper in front of me. Well, with these projectors, I would pull up behind a car and I wouldn't even be able to see the light! I could see the foglight reflection, but not the HID. Now with the adjustment, I can now see two perfect semi-purple circle reflections on the bumpers in front of me even at 7:30 in the morning. :)

I'm going to "attempt" to install the amber LED bulbs for the halos tonight. I don't expect any gratifying results as I know my LED's only have 3 lights per bulb, as opposed to aznloverboy's 5 lights per bulb and judging from what he said, I know exactly what he's talking about. The digital picture makes it look much better than it would in person, however, since I'm using amber, maybe it'll be more apparent, like with BMW halos? We'll have to wait and see.
