also remember that the 225/30/20 tire is also more expensive
Since people have PM me to death on this issue, I decided to make a post in this section for the subject.
If you have a 1999-2003 Galant, you can fit 20z on it. You can also lower it with little to no issues.
I have always used a 20x8.5" rim with a high offset. You can use a 20x7.5" rim, but I have seen some people have issues with it rubbing the rear strut tower and sometimes throwing the rear camber off a bit.
The tires to get are 225/35/20 for the best comfort or you can get the 225/30/20, but this tire is a little slimmer than the 35 series tire.
I did not have to roll my fenders or cut anything to make the rims/tires fit confortably on my car. If you look at my cardomain page, you can see what I am talking about. There are pics there at factory height as well as after I lowered it.
When I lowered it, I used the Tein Springs and went with the KYB AGX Adjustable Struts. There are other types of springs and struts that may or may not work, but this setup is what I used and it works great for me.
I do not have any rubbing issues what so ever. I had 3 full sized people in the back and one other person in the front and the only time it rubbed was when I turned a corner to fast and even then the rubbing was very very minimal, this was after it was lowered though. Now at stock height, it rubbed a little bit more. If I had to much weight in the back or trunk and it was not evenly balanced, it rubbed a little more, but again, it was minimal.

However it is the correct 20" Tire for the 8G Galant.Originally Posted by pvu_rida
Most people i've notice tend to get the 22/35/20 tire. The 225/30/20 is a little bit smaller. I just like to have a lil bit more meat on my tire. I have nitto neo gen 225/35/20 on mines.Originally Posted by RedGalant2k1
Yes i will agree with the fitment with dubz on the G ride... I have a 2000 mits galant... and i have 20x8.5 with a 38mm offset.. lowered on ground control coilovers... camber is great straight and tall... and the only time i rub is if i turn 100% and hit dips... other than that... its cool... ive rode on dubz with my g for over 2 years... ive went threw only 1 set of tires.. replaced my first set of tires august of 06.. my first set of tires lasted more than 70,000 miles... i do drive slow... so that helps... 225/35/20 is the tire size i use... for extra meat... it does make a difference... honestly ive notice more road noise with the smaller series tire... my boy rides on 225/30/20... it is a difference in ride comfort as well as noise... good luck

Yeah I have other stuff too but who cares LOL!
so for a stock suspension galant using some 20x7.5 with a tire size 225/35/20 what will be the correct offset? and if you use 20x8.5 with same tire is it the same offset?
too big for me...

Well if many of those running 20s use 20x8.5s with a 38mm offset, if you had a 20x7.5 a 42mm-45mm offset would be best, but as always you want to test fit anything you do for this type of fitment because a 225/35-20 is much larger than stock.Originally Posted by Nark_007
Good Luck.

so since the 225/30/20 tire is smaller than the 225/35/20, will it make it the actual rim seem bigger?
my bad for posting that question like 3 times, damn computer.
id love some 20's no money tho and i have to fix my 18's first
Haha not to throw a monkey wrench in this comment, but I've been pulled over three times for going too slow (Two Of Them Resulting In Actual Fines/Tickets)...Originally Posted by pvu_rida
