then the other symptom check for headgasket oil leak?

External oil leak would bring the heat out to the surroundings quite substantially when my HG blew it got so hot it caught fire under the hood.

External leak means that compression is good the car drives good but the oil just dribbling down the block from the HG.

other than that check the temp difference between the top and the bottom of the rad just in case the new thermostat is faulty. Coz then the area above the hg gets really hot and area underneath not so much and that might not be enough to make the temp gauge swing right.

You situation got me curious about mine Matt and I have to say that mine is hot..but not the hot you are describing, actually not even close to what you are describing.

Your temp needle doesn't rise at all? Do you notice your fans going on when needed to be?

I live in Florida and its started to get effin hot and humid and mine is turbo and underhood temps are tolerable.

If I get a chance I will try to get a temp reading sometime this week of the underhood temp right after I open the hood from a decent drive and we can compare temp#'s.

Another thing is does your fan work? Try and see if the temp goes down by starting the A/C...

i turned the MAS screw in a considerable amount, and the car seems better. the narrowband sweeps a little more to the rich side, and wot pull can get it almost completely pegged into the green.....think i might put my wideband back in so i can get actual legit readings

check the radiator too for leaks and see if its low and i would check the thermostat as well as it wouldnt hurt
the car studders AFTER a wot pull on the highway. i'm sure it would studder after a wot pull if i did another one right after it. plugs are all gapped perfectly. radiator is brand new.

temp needle never budges past where it should be. my fan goes on as normal, if you sit idling for too long it will go on and off as it always has....

after a pull... so there might be extra fuel left over and its trying to burn off causing the engine to flood

maybe. what really freaks me out is that it's the exact same kind of studdering that happened right before my previous motor crankwalked. otherwise i would think it's extra fuel......
