Read my thread on removing the axles. If you are just replacing the trans, you dont have to remove them from the hub. But Id still disconnect the lower control arm at the chassis so you can remove the axle from the trans.

Its not too hard, just look closely for all the bolts on the block. There is one below the starter on the driverside(have to remove from the block side). Other then that one, they should be pretty obvious.

awesome...i have a mechanic friend that will be helping me, but i just wanted to get some background on the work juuust in case...he is used to working on eclipses, so i hope this is pretty much a walk through for him...

will it make a difference if the tranny is a 98 being put into a 95?...do u think its possible to pull off in 2 days?

I can drop a 5spd trans in around an hour. Probably 1-2hr to reinstall. Even for a n00b, you should be able to do it in a day.

As for the years, I am pretty sure it will work. The only thing you will have to check is to make sure the main plug on the trans is the same.

takes about forty five minutes if you have a lift. remove axles, remove lines, remove starter, bolts, mount bolts, bam its out

you might want a little extra A/T fluid since you'll have to disconnect the lines that run to the cooler
