As with any turbo'd car it has to be on point, im just going to really have to watch my fuel maps, and knock counts more. I leaning twards meth injection it looks like a sweet system and since i already have 750cc injectors i wont have to change them and i will not have to chang out all my fuel lines for larger ones for the added fuel consomption of e85.

Meth injection is a great option. However. Its not an all the time deal. Im sure you can get a WOT switch for the pump or a push button. To every possible good thing there are 30 bad things that go along with it. To me that would be like a band aid fix. Youre injecting potentially harmfull chemicals into your combustion chamber. IDK if it would effect you guys as much it would us down here in SC with the salty atmosphere but i wouldnt trust it.

ever seen the combustion chamber of a guy who runs alky or water injection? Its spotless and completely free of carbon deposits. Pretty amazing actually, but if you think about it, you are steam cleaning your combustion chamber on the regular. Having a spotless combustion chamber alone is a great way to ward off predetonation. As the carbon deposits do a great job of retaining heat between cycles and create hotspots for preignition.

once i build a motor I plan to run about 30 or so psi daily driven on pump gas with the aid of meth injection.

Im not saying this is a HORRIBLE option. Obviously its been proven. Im just not sure that id want to do that on my DD motor.

  6. #446
yea, its a cheap option. my car isnt going to be a DD its just going to be a fun car. And the cool thing about the meth injection is every gas station has washer fluid so i can always have some.

just put a 20 gallon fish tank in the trunk with a sealed lid and run a suction hose from the meth pump to the tank in the trunk. Im sure that shit would last a long time. LOL

So this may turn into me running two 255 walbro fuel pumps on 1200 cc injectors, which would allow me to run e85.

105 octane is also an option but much more expensive in the long run, and i will not be able to drive the car on long trips because no one sells that high of octane, and since e85 is cheap its a good option I just need to educate myself on whats needed to run it.

10.5:1 compression ratio isn't a really high number for a boost application you will start running into more problems when you are reaching 12:1 or higher is where i see people running into a lot of problems with knocking.
I dunno man, I have always been taught if you want to boost, you run low compression or things will detonate. Inless you plan on running like 3/4 PSI. Again, what fun is boost if you can't feel it hold you in your seat? I awlasy saw that (for me) perfect bost was around 20/25 PSI.

Guess I will see her when she is done. :)

The reason you have to run a lower CR with a boosted car is because the air is already compressed, making it easier to ignite when it hits the cylinder, so lowering compression is the fix, with adding meth to the air, it becomes cooler because of the rapid evaporation levels of alcohol the air is then cooled making it more dense and with the combination of ethanol added to the air, you are thus able to run higher boost numbers with out worrying about knocking.

that's basically what i have read all over the internet and how i understand running meth injection, and like john said its totally safe to run.

    :agreed:

But you better run one hello tank for your meth. When Ron had his SDS half ass working, we would take an hr trip and it would be 3/4s empty.... It was an GM windsheild washer tank.

    What turbo are you thinking?

  19. #459
Its between two different ones now thanks to ivory lol. They are both 60 trim turbos one is a little more expensive but it can directly mout to my manifold and I can get a 02 housing that will mount right up to it and use my 3" down pipe, so I can spend the extra 100 bux bolt it on or save the 100 bux and have to do more fab work. I'm going to have to modify my manifold for a wastegate or buy a new one with a external wastegate mount on it. (Posted from my phone might be messed up ill edit when I get home)

if i were you i wouldnt worry about adding the wastegate to the mani as you said youd have to fab or change things either way. get the wastegate setup put on whatever O2 housing you decide on. thats what im doing when i go to the 20g or 30r
