The soiler is a Evo X style with 4.5" cut out of the middle of it.

Try some 18's with 240/45 tires if you can tuck it.

235 doesn't mean the rim width. 235 is the tire width. If you can fit them, I'd try to get some 18" rims that are, at minimum, 8" wide.

I know that I am running them on 7.5" rims now.

Well when I pulled the engine and trans out there was no change in the fender gap, maybe 1/8-1/4" at most.
