tell her to stop running over pot holes. thats why cars have steering wheels
Hey guys,
My girl keeps cracking rims and going through expensive tires on her '01 ES. We've got a lot of deep potholes on our street.
Anybody got some cheap OEM steelies that will fit the car? Anything really, as long as it matches, is solid, and is NOT low profile.
Thanks.

the best resolution to solving this problem is to not let your girl drive your car in the first place.
you can go to the junkard and pay like 14 dollars for one
shoot too bad you're over 2 hours from me. I live in Thousand Oaks and I have a full set of steelies I would give you for free. The only catch is you would have to get the old tires removed yourself (which costs money at most tires places)
yea no problem at all. I go down to OC from time to time too so just let me know when you want to come up, and I might be able to go down too. Just be aware that we attempted to cut the tires to remove them ourselves (which failed) so you're not going to be able to drive on them or anything
She just cracked one of her 19s on this bigass pothole that was dead center on an offramp while doing 50. Couldn'ta really dodged it without really screwing something up.
I'm really just sick of having to drive like a princess to protect these damn tires. Not to mention the cheapest we can find are about $130 a pop. $65 tires on OEM wheels are just fine with me. :D
The 19s don't really help with the cops, either. I've gotten tickets in the galant doing 75 in a 65, but never ever gotten a ticket in my vdub with 16s, even though I drive like a maniac in that thing.
LOL who knows. It's pretty hard to cut through the steel belt, and the problem we had was right near the edge of the wheel. It's practically impossible to angle a saw to cut that. Anyway at that point we gave up on cutting them and we have been very reluctant to go to a place, pay them to remove the tires and recycle them, then just have steelies sitting around that I'll never use.
Well once I get 'em we'll see what can be done. Perhaps a cutting wheel or something might do it.
Thanks again.
just let me know. or you can go through beam514. whichever suits you.
you gotta say something, adrian, if you end up coming down. this guy lives in linda vista, so, that's around 15-20 min. from me, galantegz, lucap100is, and dronesurfboard. prolly around 10 min. from cali
hey bro, I'll be heading down to Mission Viejo this Friday. I don't really want to drive any farther than that, but if you want, I can bring the steelies down with me to Mission Viejo and you can pick them up from there. Let me know
