ugh y did i get a de lol manual side mirrors?

ok i want to put the tweeters and covers in my 8g de but they have manual mirrors with the stupid rods that come out to move ur mirrors from inside (which i dont use anyway) so has anyone removed these before or know how to? tried a search couldnt find anything

You could always buy a pair with electronic adjustment and wire it up.

The rod should come out with the mirror.

1)take a small flathead screw driver and and push the two small tabs inside the plastic piece on the rods, the rods are attached

2) You need to carefully pull the plastic covers, take it easy if you pull the wrong part it will brake and never be the same, theres two parts on those plastic covers the one you pull with a small screwdriver or something flat and the closest to the car/mirror that is screwed in.

3) once you have pulled the plastic covers there will be 3 philips screws holding the plastic frame the plastic covers are attached to and each mirror take those out and done

Just so you know atleast my DE is prewired for electric mirrors, when you take the door panel off you'll see a white plastic harness close to the mirrors, I suppose your is too, but I haven't tried anything nor do I know if anything else is necessary, additional to the electric mirrors and switch plus the new covers. Hope that helps.
