    LEDs in gauge cluster.

The Galant Center nor Myself will be held responsible for the inguiry to you or damage to your car. This is for informational use only. Try at your own risk.

    1. Get yourself five 194 SMD LEDs and three 74 SMD LEDs.

    2. There are two screws at the top of the outer cover of the cluster. Remove these and gently pull that part out.

3.Now you will see four screws around the outside of the cluster. Take them out (be careful not to drop them) grab the cluster with one hand on each side. Pull gently while wiggling it a little. Be very careful. It should pull out pretty easily.

4.You will now have access to the back of the cluster where you will find the light sockets. The ones marked Blue are the ones that light the gauges. Remove the old bulbs and replace with SMD LEDs.

LED light have a positive and negative so if you have one that does not work try flipping it.

If you buy all the right size LED lights it is that simple.

    Here are a few tips.

    Do not get these.

    get these.

I used the 194s in place of the 74s all you have to do is put the bulb in the 74 casing.

The tape is to push the prongs out a little further and help them to get good contact to the socket.

It also helps to tun them to the ends.

To do this you will need to remove the tack and speedo. This will also allow you to see if they are all working. It will not fit though the hole. You will have to hold the back of the socket while pushing the bulb in. If you do not hold it firm you will break the tabs on the socket. Ignore the tin foil.

If you do remove the speedo and tack it is a good idea to check that they work before putting everything back together. If not check the screws that hold them in if they are not in good they will not work but do not strip them out.

when you have all your lights in and see that everything is working properly put everything back together in the opposite of removal. BE CAREFULL.

    Finished Product

    Compared to stock

194 SMD LEDs also work great for shifter

    Parking lights

    License plate light

I been looking into doin something like this.....I just need to get another stock cluster. I have reverse indiglos...but this looks so much better. Why did you take the front off instead of putting them in the back? What am I missing there?

*edit* its late...I missed the part where they dont fit! LOL, there isnt a type like those that do fit? I assume those are brighter than the ones you said dont get

They do make smaller ones that will fit in the hole for the 74 sockets but I thought that these would be brighter so I retrofitted them. The ones that I said not to get only direct the light in one direction causing some areas to be brighter than others. Smd LEDs shine 360 degrees. I had the other kind and they are really bad.

ya they make them in a lot of colors. I have amber ones in my parking lights. I know they have make blue green red and amber. have you checked the screws in the back of the gas gauge. The first time when I put the crappy leds in my speedo quite working so I messed with the screws in the back and that fixed it.You should take the screws out make sure they are clean and clean around the hole on the back were they get connection. Mine were not tight enough. but they are easy to strip.

    Thanks for all the compliments.

ya they should. If you get them and they dont work at first dont freak out at my trouble shooting part about tape and turning the prongs, but as far as the size ya they should fit.

EDIT: those are a little pricey I would check eBay first.
EDIT2: didnt find any cheeper on ebay.

I think that you will need five 194s and three 74s but don't go buying any until I double check. I'll let you know for sure later.

I went and looked it's three 74 and four 194. If your going to get them for the ash tray hvac and other things you will need eight more 194s and four more 74s.
