    cai in the winter snow

does anyone who has a cai live in an area that has really heavy snow and rain during the winter time? if so have you had any problems with the cai and the snow and rain? thanks.

Well I live in Denver Colorado, so you can imagine the snow we get here. We have a had a couple good heavy rainstorms and as long as the CAI isnt fully submerged in water it should be ok. As far as snow, as long as your not trying to drive through 6" snow drifts you should be ok too. I'm not sure if ice would accumulate on the filter or not but for safety's sake if you do have to drive in snow I would be VERY cautious.

i'd get a heat shield or a bypass valve at least. even if the water isn't a problem, snow can also accumulate on the filter and act like a plastic bag on the filter and possibly damage things...

or you could just ocnvert to short ram for the winter. its not that hard.

Run the full (2 pipes) setup during dry conditions and pull the extension pipe when it's wet.

...unless you have the bypass valve : )

Also, if you live in a place that has temperatures lower than 32*F, why would you need a cold air intake?

    Isn't it "COLD" enough?

central illinois gets the worst of both worlds. we get winters where the temp drops to -10 below and summers when it's 110.

I live in Michigan and I've had my CAI on for almost 18 months and no problems with snow or rain whatsoever, heck i put the thing on in Feb./Mar of 02. and we had snow on the ground.
