yes the head gasket is MLS, i might end up using it, since the hks head gaskets run close to $200.

Currently the best headgaskets available for the EVO motor are the OEM MLS gasket and the MLS gasket from PowerEnterprise. Make sure you let the machine shop know your using a MLS headgasket so they can deck the surfaces on a CBN mill to achieve the proper R/A rating. You cant deck them on a regular machine like you would a motor using a normal headgasket.

What is your compression on the pistons? and if it was me I would use cosmetic gaskets...they are pretty good. As for cooling get a Mishimoto radiator for an Evo 8, all you have to do is re-mount the radiator mounts or make your own which is what I did.

Cometics EVO headgaskets have proven to be the worst option as of late. I know, I think about it alot since I have a cometic headgasket on my engine. When I did the headswap it was the only gasket available for the DOHC conversion, recently AMS started mod'ing stock MLS gaskets to work and Power Enterprise started making them too. The NEW style cometic gaskets are good, but they are also $250, at that point you can buy a Power Enterprise one for the same price.

stock compression on the pistons.. i know hks makes thicker gaskets to raise compression but thats something ill look into as i get there.

as for the radiator i was actually looking into one of those.

head is currently in the machine shop getting a valve job and all the works with new valves, springs/retainers, valve locks. should have it back sometime this week if not next week.

just got quoted $500-600 to do the short block, which includes installation of all new internals, honing of the cylinder walls, balancing of the crank which is crucial, and other stuff. in the coming weeks ill be taking the block to get done and after that hopefully start putting the engine back together.

What type of turbo are you going with. You dont think the injector a little big? You will need to rescale them down. By the way nice clean evo head.

not quite sure yet...for the first few months im gonna be running the stock evo 9 that i have now, pump up the boost and see what i can get out of it..my goals are 400+...i see many evo guys getting that power with the stock turbo...so we'll see...i have been looking into a gt35r...but thats another story...the injectors will flow more than enough fuel for any type of set-up i decide to throw on there..might have to scale them down but its ok, i know if i ever want more the fuel system wont be a problem
