The box is connected to the MAF. Loosen that hose clamp on the tube, unplug the MAF plug and rotate the whole thing. Then connect the MAF plug back up. I think that will work for you.

I keep watching the flash tutorial on making your own intake. I looks easy, but what I don't see how is where does the tube that I circled connect to the air box once you turn the box around counter-clockwise? I looked in my car and I cound't see where it connected.

Genuine experience carries a lot more credibility than the ability to answer a question.
The tube stays still.......You could just turn the MAS with the box. You'll have to loosen that hose clamp that connects the MAS with the tube first. Don't forget to unbolt the screws for the airbox first.......

you don't need a k&n, you can use the oem for a while. the k&n just gives it better filtering and makes the intake louder. don't forget to put some felt tabs or something on the original top of the MAS so u don't rub a hole it in like i did

What exactally is the benefits of turing the air box around from thr standard positon? Does the air come in a differnet way ot somthing? My dad wants to know before I do it.
IF u look @ ur stock airflow u'll c the numerous twists and turns the air must make b4 actually reaching the manifold...by removing the airbox and flipping the box ur increasing the flow of air and therefore ur adding slight power to your car.
it just makes it easier for air to flow into the motor

Do you leave the filter exposed or do you put the lid back on?
Also, i've got some kind of box attached to the side of my ari box on my i4. Right where the green circle is. Will this matter?
Gawd i'm full of questions . Anyway... will the air be coming through the filter from the top instead of through the little shute on top of the radiator where the air originally came from??

for lweaving the filter exposed. yea u do that. just follow the directions. as for the little box you got to remove the bottom part of the intake. the part u don't use so u will be able to close the hood
