    Brakes

Turns out that the noise that I have been getting from the drivers wheel was my caliper going out. I need to get them replaced. Shop #1 (a local shop) wanted $750...my second opinion (Car-x) only wanted $340 for the same job. I don't have time to do it myself, but I was wondering...do you think this is a fair price?

this is for new front calipers, resurface rotors, bleed the brakes, install.

I paid around 150 ea. for the front calipers loaded (w/pads). Well, you have to add some charges for core, but you can do them in 2 hours.

2 bolts on each side, plus the fluid line,. Well 350 on one side does it include puting on the machine the rotor or aare they going to replace it.

If they replace the caliper and the rotor, then it sounds about right.

dude, get some complimentary jy with that.

for that price, make the time to do it yourself. brakes are the biggest rip off at shops.

    $0.02

I got new calipers on both sides (with pads), then they resurfaced both rotors.

As far as making time, it isn't really an option, I often have to drive at work.

That is too bad then, cuz the rebuild kit for our calipers is cheap, and it does not take long to do. You could drop off your rotors to get them cleaned up, go home, rebuild your calipers then go pick up your rotors and put it all back together. Maybe three hours.

You'd only spend $$ for the rebuild kit, turning the rotors, and any new brake fluid. Maybe $100.

At least every 10,000 - 15,000 miles. Depends on where you live at. The weather has a big play in brakes wearing down.

    Squeeling like a pig

My brakes have been squeeling for a couple of weeks, so I brought it into the dealership (the cheapest price I found if you can believe that 129.00).

They checked them and said I had plenty of pads left in front and in back. But, they are still making noise.

    Any thoughts?
