On the way to the Corona meet.

As you guys probably know, my timing belt slipped and I'm in need of yet another engine. I'm putting the one in I had originally planned to turbo. I'm now planning on just turbo charging a 3.5L instead. The piston rods are way bigger than the 6g72's and this will help since I only planned on replacing pistons.

I'll keep everyone posted, as of right now it does not move.

Yea, this motor was from my old G. I replaced the timing belt, water pump, and the tensioner pulley. The hydraulic tensioner failed and caused the belt to slip upon deceleration. Engine had 75k miles on it.

    Just another day being me.

    Engine out:

    Engine in:

This engine was supposed to be used for my turbo build. I changed the spark plugs, intake plenum + TB, Timing belt and pulleys, water pump, TIMING BELT TENSIONER, and all gaskets. Moved the transmission, headers, and spec clutch over.

Nice man glad to see it back together again. What was so special about using this motor for your turbo build?

Nothing really, just one that was not being used in the car and I had made plans for. I had ordered all gaskets for a intake plenum switch and everything needed for a complete rebuild.

So you were going to rebuild the whole motor and swap the plenum over to a 6g75 or 6g74 which ever one it is?

Now you can take the damaged motor, tear it down, port the heads, replace the valves, put in forged pistons and call it a day. At least you wont be taking apart a perfectly good engine : )

lol This is true, Hoping to scoop up a 3.5L to do this stuff to. I just need to throw out a bunch of stuff to make room for an engine tear-down.

Take two flat head screw drivers and put them between the release clip (near TOB) and the clutch fork. While turning the screw drivers, just push the fork towards the removed slave cylinder and she comes right off. I did it in like 2 minutes last night.

Sorry if it doesn't make much sense when reading it, I can picture it well in my head lol.
