swap the galant pulley with the 3g. i did that with my d/d honda accord just lat week.
story
well after driveing the car for 4 months and fixing small issues here and there i notice a huge draw in power when i was at a stop light a.c. on, radio going, headlights on, and my blinker, notice my dash lights would dim every time my blinker went off, so i get home grab the volt meter check the battery, 12.2 v on the gas 12.5v. so i head to autozone before they close and have them check the alt with there scan tool, bad voltage reg, im stunned i been driving like this for 4 month and when i first started driving the car it threw a code for it, cleared it and it never came back.
jump on ebay and looked into an eclipse alt got one for 40$ with a 1yr warrenty
goto the shop install the beast put the belt on and it barelly tighten up butt still drivable, so i do some checking and found out that the 3g alt pully is 1-3/4in and the galant is 2.5in, head to autozone for another belt thats 1in shorter, that didnt work, cant get the belt on at all, so i have to go again to get another belt thats 0.5 smaller,
did any of u guys have this issue or is it just me...

A filipino's number one dream is to own a car before anything else. In the philippines, most private car owners consider their vehicles as an extension of their home but with one differrence: a home is where his wife cooks while a car is where his girlfriend builds a fire. Hmmm...
doing that will change the amps
^really?

with the 3g pully being smaller it can produce 95amps, now if the 3g setup is the same as the G then that means the water pump pully would be bigger on the 3g,
i cross referance both 3g and galant belts and they are the same,
unless i have a v6 alt, and i dont kno if that will work on the 4cyc
i hope someone can help me clear this up
if anyone has a chance to check the pully size of a v6 alt that be great
Alternators are supposed to be the same between Eclipse and Galant... Are you sure you got a 3G alt?? I4 and V6 have different mountings, so they are no interchangeable, although both generate 85 amps.

I think the main thing to check is if it was a v6 vs an i4. My car (03 Galant i4) has a 95w 2005 Eclipse i4 alternator and I didn't have to swap or change anything, it just fit right in.
IIRC the V6 3G was 85amps and the I4 8G is 90. Why down grade?
looking over my ebay, it came from a 2000 eclipse 2.4,
i kno its suppose to drop right in butt y is the pully dia 1.75in?
ok after doing some research i4 galants have 85 amp alt
eclipse i4 have 90 amp alt
Autozone parts search is different, the Amperage is flipped between the two.
I just wen to check my self, and according to Rock Auto a 99 galant which is mine is 90 amps, and a 2000 (both 2.4 BTW) is 85A, with different part numbers. Now I'm stumped.
IMO what you should do now is use the pulley off the bad alternator, Sure you you'll loose some amperage when idling, but since you stated off with a bad alternator, a few amps lower than stock is better than no amperage at all.
