The interior is different from the US model and the US models dont come with the 5 speed transmission from the factory.Everyone always converts theirs.The 8th generation here didnt come out until 1999 which was the first year.There might be some other things but those are the major differences.

No available manual transmission at all (except for a very limited number of 1999 Base models, or so I've heard)

2.4L 4G64 inline 4 Cyl

Fed Spec

Cali Spec

3.0L 6G72 V6

I don't know if there is a difference between Cali and Fed spec V6's or not, I have a four and are more familiar with them.

Trim Levels:
DE = Entry Level, 4 Cyl only, Black body cladding, grilles and mirrors no matter the color
ES = Sales Leader, 4 Cyl or v6, keyless entry and fogs standard, could have more options like ABS, Moonroof, etc.
LS = Upmarket, V6 only until 2002, when LS was available with a 4 cyl. ABS, Moonroof, infinity Sound, etc. standard.
GTZ = Top level sport variant, loaded, better suspension.
