Here's some more pics from tonight, I'm in the gonzaga sweatshirt with the white beanie, and my friend nial is in the tan sweatshirt
Here's some better pics of my recently acquired chumpcar project: car is rock solid mechanically, which is perfect for our needs. 450 bucks!!!!!
My friend Nial and I will slowly be making it into a chump car/HPDE car that we will use and rent out.
bunch of hand me down cobalt race pads
Factory hood that is not pretzel'd like ours is thanks to the previous owner when we picked up the car.
Tractor/lawn mower/motorcycle battery
Water pump/timing belt service
vc gasket
cas o ring
Clutch slave
OE exedy clutch wouldn't hurt
ES arm bushings
Bilstein HD's
Tie rods/ends
Ebay coilover sleeve/spring replace ebay spring with hyperco springs :)
Rad hoses
Heater hoses
15" wheels
Pax front turn signal
HDHC roll bar/ miatacage.com cage depending on funds and where the car sits as of next spring.
To Do:
Inspect suspension- ball joints/replace boots & grease as needed
PS/AC delete
Properly gut the PS rack
Transfer over a set of my old end links with ES bushings
Install OEM swaybar ES poly bushings
Re-drill stock sway bar a notch inward
Trim factory bumpstops for new setup
Install hand-me-down Cobalt XR3/5 pads
All fluids
Temp. fix on the soft top window
Remove/reshape front bumper skin
Fix exhaust leak
Alignment session
Had the whole crew wrenching on the car tonight. We made some great progress.
Changed diff fluid with Redline
Finished stripping the interior
Fixed the broken passenger side door that wouldn't open
Removed front bumper skin to reshape and asses further damges
Removed fog lights and bumper crash pad
Removed rear spoiler
Purchased and installed a lawn mower battery (works great, light, and very compact)
First oil change
Gave the Mopar Combustion Chamber cleaner a go! This works wonders. Previous black piston tops are now sparkly clean.
1. We applied 1/2 can through the vacuum nipple @ throttle body while idling. Car tends to bog down but no issues.
2. Shut car off and remove plugs/wires
3. Evenly distribute the remaining 1/2 can into each spark plug whole thoroughly coating the top of the pistons.
4. Let sit for half hour
5. With plugs and wires removed "crank" the car over ejecting the residue out the top of the spark plug holes. (be sure to line the top of the valve cover with old t-shirts, shop rags, etc to keep the mess to a minimum.)
6. When no more liquid is expelled during the cranking process replace plugs and wires. Take the car on an easy drive until smoke is no longer exiting tail pipe.
7. Change oil and enjoy what seems to be new found power along with a smoother, healthier sounding and feeling engine.
8. repeated it on the galant as well, really works wonders, so much better than seafoam.
we have bilsteins!!! these will be revalved for spec miata spring rates asap!!! we just saved a pile of money too haha

very nice!
any plans for the car besides usual maintenance?
yes, it'll be stripped out, recaro seats, cage, poly bushings, spec miata suspension setup, star specs, etc.. power wise, we'll likely get an ebay exhaust and header, bump the timing, and call it good for now. The goal is to spend as little as possible for the maximum amount of fun !

Greddy, fun looking project. I wish I had space around my house to do stuff like that.
That's cool!
Or can we still say that? Lol.

Cleaned the interior some more, gutted the steering wheel and removed a bunch of wiring and weight all around the car. SS brake lines up front added as well and new front sway bar endlinks with poly sway bushings. Rebuilt the shifter with new bushings and turret fluid

ok, so we polished up the car a little bit and drove it around a bunch just so our ears could bleed from the exhaust haha, I know we still need a new hood but we found one local for 110 bucks that's already red, and I'm driving up to seattle on thursday to pick up a roll bar for stupid cheap. Recaro pole position should be in relatively soon as well. I also replaced the softtop window with a home made concoction of rivets and clear vinyl.
This is with my friend Nial's miata, which is clean as fuck and tastefully modded
