Do you already ballast? If you don't, then yes you would need to buy a kit.
ddm tuning is good stuff!! only heard good comments from ppl that buys from them!!
Was doing a lil research for possible change in color/kelvin than my current and ran into a post on ddm..

When you get a kit for 40$ there isn't much room to complain.
There ws a thread on here some time ago, basically now you only have 4 color choices: 3000k, 4500k, 7000k, and 10 or 12k. But for $35 a kit with lifetime warranty its still worth buying.
VVME is good, but I wouldn't completely drop DDM from HID selection.
This, since I saw the mentioned DDM flyers I've still made HID purchases and still satisfied with their kits.
To be honest I never heard of ddm kits until friend of mine had em in his civic. I don't remember what kelvin but I do remember them being bright. Really I think your taking a chance on any of the kits. Just about everyone I know around my town has had something go wrong with their hids. Lately for me its been the bulbs that quit. One from a kit on my old s14 changed colors from like 8k to 12k and was dim. Then I bought 6000k bulbs to switch from 10000k on my galant. One of em had a flicker and color variation. And then I put the 10's back in and it just stopped completely. So now I'm on 8k I've been throught it with hids, but I love em. That's why I salvage whatever I can when I have to get new kits and use it all for back up...saved me time and money on more than one occassion TRUST!
Never had issues with any DDM/VVME kits.
But remember I use relays on all my installations. Those who don't Fail just like their kits.
