taillights not working bright

i have 3rd gen tails that i bought a while back but didnt get jdm harness with it so i had to use the stock usdm harness. the lights had regular bulbs in them but they wouldnt light up bright enough so i had to cut and make the holes bigger to fit leds in there. now they work brighter than before but only in darkness or like cloudy weather. i couldnt see them lit up in sunlight. the bulbs are 50smds type on each for park and brake. my wires are not soldered..i tried to do them myself but im not good at it so i just wired em together with electric tape for now. regardless, they should work as the power is going to them..and they do, just not bright enough in sunlight . what can i do to fix this issue? i do not have load resistors if that makes a difference because they are not doing the hyperflash as they are not turn signals although they are making my cruise control not work
