I don't think anyone's made a video of it on TGC. I changed mine out in an afternoon. Have you checked youtube?

It takes 15 minutes to take swap it out but I've done few so it's easier.
Follow the Haynes manual but instead of pulling it out of the bottom pull it through the top.
Loosen the power steering line and throttle cable and it should come out with some wiggle and the right angle.
Very straight forward.

Hay I just bought a alternator to replace too,, Can I get a list of sockets it takes? I know there's only like 3 bolts? Imma buy a socket wrench set so I can get points for AZ, plus I conveniently need them.
Also is there a bolt on the driver side too? or only the bolts where the tensioner is? I4 of course.
mine should be here on thurs ordered it online, ill be damned if i pay a core charge instore
The alt on the i4 is easy, I agree with pulling it out thru the top. I've taken mine out a few times. I know the bolt on the bracket holding the lines in place is a 10mm, I believe the other ones are either a 12mm, 13mm, or at biggest a 14mm.

ugh still nothing in the mail today will keep everyone posted though
Did you buy an OE replacement or a High Output alternator?
OE i was thinking high but since the radio & amp was stolen again i dont have anything but the HIDs and door speakers & tweeters that are aftermarket now, and honestly i think i might be just getting rid of it soon, the break ins plus now needing to put more money into it has me thinking
well it came in today, alot heavier than i thought, im going to give it a shot in the morning
Just take your time with it and don't break anything else.... Good luck

thanks man and of course it wants to be 7 degrees today
Cold weather is a bitch to work in. At least you aren't trying to paint or fiberglass.

I rebuilt my front suspension the very first time back in like 2008 in January I think and I did it outside in a weather like this. Brutal?? Yes it was. But it needed to be done and I did it!!

Hey guys just changed my alt today it was a breeze but also its snowing outside but it needed to be done. Anyway I'm still having charging problems. My new Duralast alt didn't charge at all and my old one gave a lil charge if I drive for a lil. It would give me enough charge so I could start my car and let it warm up for about a min then the car may cut off or lights would go dim. Can anybody help me out with this. Any help any input will be good. Thanx in advance
Is the belt tight?? If its loose it won't charge like it should.

Check belts, cables, grounds, battery terminals and battery itself, a bad cell won't accept incoming charge from a good alternator.
