    Montero ECU

Guys I just wanted to share this information with you !!!!The information provided does not mean go and steal other peoples stuff!!! In Puerto Rico they have a big problem because the mitsu racers found out that they can swap the ECU from a Montero and put it in their lancers, mirages(Technica), and galants and increases horsepower and performance without having to do any major modifications. This was a problem over there because they where stealing the Montero's to get the ECU's. Has anybody here tried it? I myself have'nt because I have no experience with this but when I went home over the summer my friend told me. I believe they are the big monteros not the Montero Sport (Nativa Puerto Rico Spec).

Dont the Big Montero's come only in V6? So how would a V6 ECU work on a I-4?

I was looking at the Montero's and they generally have either a 3.0 L sohc V6 or either a SOHC or DOHC 3.5. The 3.0L V6 tops out at 177hp(at the crank, I'm sure) and even the DOHC 3.5 tops out at 215 hp. Can you put a 3.5 ECU on a 3.0L?

I also heard that you can swap the throttle body from the 3.5L engine(which comes in the Montero, Caravan, Town & Country, and many other Dodge/Mitsu vehicles) onto our 3.0L engine and it would work well? Anyone know anything about that?

Yea the ECU contols things like valve timing and if the V6 ECU is put in the I4 the ECU would be looking to control 2 more cylinders! I do not think it would work either.

Sorry to bump an old old thread...

Found this while searching for the possibilities of swapping a tunable ecu into my non-tunable 3.8 non-mivec 2005 Montero (not the sport version)

They did make a 2.4L RWD only, Montero Sport. I believe mine was a 1997 and was a 5 speed manual.
