cant really tell from a picture. i found some flanges that are -8AN and i just thought that would be too small for the oil drain. i guesssssss ill bite the bullet and pay the extra bucks for the better flanges. Accidentally I bought some for a TD06H -10AN flanges for cheap and they are wayyyyy too big for a TD05H. I assume your flanges are different than mine?

yeah mate the "gt series" flanges that I am using are the same as the 16g ones except the bolt holes are bigger. The weird thing is all the mitsu family turbos td02-td06 should be using the same flange.

Thanks man. Yeah they look awesome when they work lol. that leak test kit is a good idea. I just put water in with a thumb on one end and blew in hard. More than enough for the drain line since its gravity drain and under no pressure

Thanks! Seeing stuff like this makes me happy. I hope my car can inspire people to think out of the box.

So big thing today. Some of you may know about "krank vents" if you dont they are essentially a one way valve that modifies the the oem PCV system to prevent air from entering the crankcase through either the PCV valve or the intake hose.
The PCV system is there to remove "blow-by" (unburnt fuel-air mixture that "blows passed" the piston rings on the compression stroke) from the crankcase before the gases can contaminate the engine oil or increase the crankcase pressure.
Positive crank case pressure can cause smoking turbos, blown out dipsticks, piston rings that wont seat properly..etc. The problem exists because the NA pcv valve was never designed to block boost from entering the crankcase. Once boost hits, air flows back through the pcv valve and pressurizes the crankcase causing the before mentioned problems.

Lesson over, I had bought a kit of "specialized" one way valves from a company called ET-Performance. Great product and worked like a charm on my evo. I started getting some puffing from my exhaust on the tumbler so I immediately knew what was going on. However I didnt want to spend $110+shipping for something I saw as glorified one way valves. I had a company make some one way valves to my specs out of billet aluminium and got them today. Popped them in and lo and behold they work exactly the same. They have barb fittings so all you do is splice them in line and youre done. If any of the boosted guys are interested let me know and I can have some made for you too if you want.

PCV valve is a PCV valve bro it works the same way for all cars. Any PCV valve should close when positive pressure (boost) is present at the manifold regardless its a turbo or n/a application. If yours didnt seal then you had a faulty valve.

Anyways, good call on aftermarket one-way valves. I've never trusted the stock PCV valves and always backed things up with one way valves.

And Im glad that you're keeping the stock PCV configuration - thats the way to go. I never liked the vented/breather catch cans for the way they worked.

    Here's a little info:

Thats a very informative video so people can visually see what is going on unknowingly.
I agree mine is most likely failing/has failed. Personally I have never seen an na motor pcv valve block out boost. For that matter turbo cars that have bigger turbos and stock pcv systems have the same damn problems. Thats how blow by happens. All the oil pooling in intercoolers and what not. They will all eventually fail lol. These vents were made to handle 70psi day in and day out and have super strong seals on the inside. The stock pcv can fail all it wants I'm good :)

    dont ask why im awake.....LOL
gawd damn you OCD. I couldnt sleep and I was curious what the power would look like with no crankcase pressure fighting the rotating assembly. Holy crap....richer afr as well LOL. I adjusted timing by 2* to smooth it and didnt touch anything else. Heres the comparison against my best run. I'm just using this as a tuning tool cause I dont believe the number its telling me lol

Alllll the way across the powerband!

$70 for both valves is what they are being sold for. a freaking steal compared to the $110 ones. I'm going to take some pictures of them today so everyone can see them.

It is indeed an evo 3. I've always wanted one. before picking up this galant I considered getting a mirage and evo cloning it.

Pics! Nice and compact I'm going to get some mounts for them when I tidy up the engine bay

    intake valve

    pcv valve

Lol and somehow I cracked the pcv valve right in half.....I've never even seen one of those break.

Went to the junkyard today and picked up an 8gb valve cover and am waiting for the paint to dry :P
