GR-2's are really just a slight step up from stock and can't handle a drop much better either. AGX's are better but u can still blow them too. I have been on H&R springs and AGX's for 5 years (WOW) and the AGX's have headed up good but they are on their way out. Also the stock in the back and lowered up front is very unsafe, i found out the hard way. Hat my 8g dropped like that for about a month when i went through a soft curve and the back end came around and i ended up in a ditch. I was not speeding of driving aggressive, it was because of the different spring rates. So be careful.

^^Appreciate it. To be honest the car seems to want to understeer more so than over with my 3g oem strut bar. Its really surprised me how rigid it makes the front end ever since I've had it, even on stock suspension. Yeah I knew I was taking a chance on gr-2's. Would have went with agx's to begin with but didn't know if I wanted to spend that much. That's why I tried to choose a mild drop set of springs, so I could try gr-2s or oem. Buddy of mine has skunk2 springs on his 8th gen civic and has been okay for atleast over a year. I had agxs plus espelir springs on my s14 and loved them, and they were still going strong for about 5 yrs aswell until the car got totaled. I mean if I could get the same life span for the galant I would be more than happy. I mean if I were to get agxs for the rear there woudlnt be any risk since it's just dampening correct? Of course I mean with the lowering springs back in the rear

now that u guys bring struts up, how long do coilover and shocks last.?

  4. #26364
Lmao^ but I cant blame you. I'll let a coilover owner answer that, but I know eventually they have to be rebuilt. Buddy of mine mentioned he's gotta replace his coils on his srt-4. I'm thinking he might have had em 3-4 years, but the thing that gets me is he's not slammed or anything or autocross

I need a carwash, too lazy to go. Rare that I see a mirrored truck on the road, had to take advantage.

I had my G dropped on Teins with GR-2'S for almost a year before I got rid of it and never had any issues

Got in contact with my buddy with the srt today..actually he's only had them for 2 yrs but plans to get them rebuilt. Didn't think to ask if he bought used or new or what brand (think BC). I mean to be honest if I really could fork out the money and could afford the wait time I would go with the same coils greddy has, as I've read nothing but good about amr on various forums. Like I said though, I don't utilize my cars handling enough to justify it. The most cornering it sees, is on ramps lol

Then do what I did and a cheaper set like Megan racing or something equivalent. I picked up my first set used for $600 with like 2k miles on it. My most recent set for my other G I paid $550 with about 5k on them. That's the price of springs and shocks!

TEINS/GR-2's for about 3 years now 20,000 on my black G and about another 35,000 on my silver one...doesn't even feel like they need replacing
Can you size down your sig please? Thanks, Admin :)

  13. #26373
Man haven't seen your car in a while, clean as always lol. Smh I dunno what happened with my rears..doubt a factory defect cause both of em went. Sure the springs are to blame but the drop is suppose to be 1.4 like I said on a 3g, and they're not the stiffest springs I think. My espelir springs on my 240 were stiffer I think. Hopefully they would do better agx.

And I've been checking craigslist out of state somewhere not to far for coils, because I would like to be able to see the condition prior to buying. But still thinking of just getting agc for the rear if the front gr-2s are still good. And when the fronts go I'll probably replace with agx's too if I have good luck for the rear.

  14. #26374
On another note I wonder if my rears went because the springs are so soft and possibly bottomed out easier? Cause the back end always squatted easier than the fronts in uneven parking lots. Maybe setting agx's stiffer would help slow the compression, but would being set on stiff shorten the life? It didn't. Seem to on my 240.

Driving style and road conditions effect the life of your shocks too.

Very true, but I try to swerve every pothole/manhole, creep on speed bumps, and angle in steep entrances and still blew the rears lol. Like I said thr only time I might push the car in a corner is on the ramps, and that's just a gradual turn but I understand there's some weight shift involved. I practically babied the gr-2s

Speaking on all this talk of car washes I haven't hand wash my car in months. Been taking it to the pay&spray and let the pre soak do it's thing and dry off with a towel if I remember to bring one. Main concern was getting any road salt off from snow days. But a wash, wax, and possibly clay session is overdue

    Finally hit the car wash.

Edit: I took those pics with my nice camera in RAW format, changing them over to jpeg really washes away some of the natural vibrancy the pics had in RAW.
