Tranny Flush v/s fluid change

I have been reading that a transmission flush is better than a fluid change but can see no differrence. In a flush new fluid pushes out the old, in a fluid change you pump out fluid, drain the pan, add 5 qts and then push out the remaining old fluid and fill so all new fluid?
