Uhm you got the wrong set. The control arm designed was changed after 2001. That's why the bushing is off.
Well the kit for the 3g eclipse from prothane is great, but the seeing as I have a 4cl cyl the bushing on closest to the rear of the car on the front control arm did not fit. The bushing for that part in the lot is large and for a 6 cyl engine. I believe the 6 cyl bush is 62 mm in its midsection and the 4 cyl rubber bushing I took off the car was nominal of 50 mm but I had to take a little more off cause prothane does not compress like rubber. So I did about 49 or 48 mm.
Here are the two side by side
The lower one is the one I sanded down notice how it's sanded to about halfway between the part numbers. The upper one you can still see the whole part number.
I was going to use a lathe but after talking with the shop guy at my school who had just done some work on a prothane mount told me a sander would be better cause the material does not take to a chuck well well and the angle of the cutter has to specially set up.
Here was my setup with a belt sander.
While putting this in make sure to check that your bracket fits the same way as it did with Th e rubber bush, otherwise you could break the threads on the control arm bolt or chassis hole thread as I did. A night of Cussing and screaming later I retapped the hole and was good to go.
Car does feel great with prothane, happy I stuck it out.

It could also be that my car is an old chassis as its a 2000

Or do I just get the v6 bracket for that rear part

It has absolutely nothing to do with v6 vs I4 as they have the same control arms. Its that you car is older than the kit you ordered. Plain and simple. Look on club3g as there is a whole discussion on this.
Its all good kit says 00 to 05 so maybe I should get 94 to 99 o well what's done is done ill just do the other ill look and see if I find the discussion but google searches got me nothing , but I was at work thanks ill keep looking

Looks like they have different part numbers, so they are not the same:
I4 :
------
MR455738 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 02.01.1998-01.02.2001
MR554376 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 01.03.2001-07.03.2003
------
V6 :
------
MR369792 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 02.01.1998-04.03.1999
MR369796 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 05.01.1999-05.03.2000
MR554376 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 06.01.2000-06.03.2002
MR554376 ARM ASSY,FR SUSP,LWR RH 07.01.2002-07.03.2003

Look at the production dates you listed. Non of them match up. They are the same the v6 and i4 have the SAME EXACT CONTROL ARMS!!!
The only ones that are different is the year change from mid 2001 and up with different control arm mounting points and bushing design. Not v6 vs i4
You wasted your money on buying a v6 bushing.
I just went out and looked at my master bushing set and it seems that Energy suspension messed up on years and bushing design. I am going to call ES up tomorrow and see what the deal is. The bushing set that will work for it is $50 bucks. Not worth it considering I just bought the compelte set and they screwed up.
Why do those dates have to match up? The last version of the control arm (MR554376) went to production on 06/01/2000 and appeared on V6 models first. I4 has a different subframe, so they did modify it first and then used the same control arm on I4 models, produced from 01/03/2001.
Maybe you are right about the "ARMS", they are the same and the only difference is bushing and mounting points. But the arm doesn't have a dedicated part number, Mitsubishi sells the whole assembly. So, if the car (2.4 engine) produced after 03/2001, we are lucky: there is no any difference between I4 & V6, they use the same assembly. If the production date is before 3/2001, we need to choice the correct assembly, bushing & etc.
