She's a fixer upper, possibly skipped timing. Clean straight body, clean title, 143k, no tears in leather will need hood and bumper due to small brawl with light pole (prev owner). Looking to flip it.

^^^ Most def, but its either gonna be a yard motor or replaced valves on one or both heads or I'll be a monkeys uncle of nothing happened.

Yeah I thought about that right after I said it XD
But if he is replacing the motor anyway could be going with 2.4 right? I assume the mount locations and everything are the same (obviously not trans/axles/etc but still) never looked into the 2.4's so I have no clue

Different subframe, ECU, and wiring harness. I wouldn't even consider it.

Yeah... a lot is differ between the two. And depending on the state, swaps like that aren't allowed. I could swap a 4g63t in place of a 4g64 but I couldn't do the v6 swap since the car was born a 4 cylinder.

Currently on my 3rd 8G... Not giving up this time!
Make a GTZ a 2.4? Lulz!
I'm trying to get it going with the least amount put in so I can sell and profit the most.

If you don't have valves/don't feel like pulling a yard head off for two or four I've got a few engines worth of them in a box.
I will definitely keep that and the sale thread you have here in mind. I won't bea tearing into it just yet. I'm moving in the next few weeks so it will be put off until then, it just so happened I found the car on CL and picked it up before it was gone.
I'll hit you up if anything comes up, first im pulling the intake, valve covers and releasing the rollers to close all the valves then I'll have the balls to spin the motor so I can do a leak down test at each cylinder and take it from there.

Pull the rockers off, pull the spark plugs. Take a section of hose that fits on the plug tubes and blow into the cylinders, quickest way to find bent valves.
^^^^ if you have a compression tester extension for OHC engines those can be used as well given they don't have a valve in them. I prefer it since its less likely to leak.
Of course if your valves are as bent as mine its pretty easy to just pull the valve covers off.
If the rockers have a bunch of slack in them there is a pretty good chance they are bent.
RIP: Colin McRae, you will be missed.
