    ? about spark plug wires

I went to buy a set of spark plug wires for my 8G, and Discount Auto Parts wants $150 for them. Autozone doesn't carry them and I really don't want to pay dealer price for them. I'm thinking the high price is because of the coils that run between the spark plug wires on top of the engine. Do those coils need to be replaced or can I get away with replacing just the wires? I remember a GB not too long ago with the I4 wires at around $69. BTW I have the 2.4 I4.

What was your dealer charging? They (dealer) told me the coil packs should be replaced. I haven't bothered to look just yet. Dealer price for timing belt, oil/engine flush, water pump, wires, plugs and packs and other little stuff (it was the full meal deal) was going to be around $1200 (ouch)

    I feel sick....

I think mine was going to be around $750-800 for the whole deal. I've already put new spark plugs, wiper blades, PCV valve, air filter and had a lube, oil and filter done, not to mention had the tires rotated and balanced and spent a whopping $70. The car runs like brand new right now, though. If the coils HAVE to be replaced at 60K, then I'll have to bite the bullet and buy them, if they don't, I won't as long as they work OK.

I also noted in the maintenance manual that it calls for the plugs and wires to be replaced at 60K but not the coils. :?
