heres an easier way...... Tap the gauges into your OEM gauges/interior dimmer......tap it into the green wire (correct me if im wrong) This is easier cause its nice and close to the gauges and you dont have to work near your engine at all.

well, i tried tapping to the dimmer switch through the green (w/ white strip) wire, but still a dead end. does it matter if my car is 7G, compare to the link given to me, which was for the 8G, i don't think so right? and does the ground wire matter, for the gauges to work? i have the analog inverter that came with the gauges, which had the red wire with a fuse, and a black wire, which is the ground wire. i checked the fuse, and it's still good. so i don't know what i'm doing wrong here.

Yeah the ground matters....make sure that you have a good ground.....I used one of the screws that are behind the actual gauge cluster when you pull it out....make sure that you have good connections and the gauges should turn on when you turn on your lights.

it just might be some stupid loose connections, although the ground wire is securely tight behind the actual gauge, maybe it's the main connection to the green wire but it should light up with some yanking on the wire right? do you know how i could test the gauge itself, maybe they are the problem? i'm gonna try those "self splicing connectors," but i'm starting to doubt that it might be the gauges itself or the inverter.

Well what i do sometimes to check if something works quickly....is test it on your battery....positive to red and black to negative..if that doesnt work then its something wrong with the gauges

well, i checked with the car battery and it works! so i don't know whether the connection i'm tapping into are not enough to power the gauges, or plainly they are the wrong wires!

    Must be the wrong wires.
Tap into the dimmer switch to the left of the steering column.

    Green - Positive
    Black - Negative

The wires are pretty small (18 guage) so you may want to make sure you're making a clean connection.

u sureits the dimmer??? i its wheel that scrolls up n down
    uhhhh...... Whats a 9g???

  16. #16
yes, i used the dimmer switch, the one that scrolls up and down, on the left side of wheel. Green wire with the white strip for the positive wire, which is the red wire from the inverter, and the black wire for the negative which is the black wire as well from the inverter. And nothing happened! By the way, the gauge is by BOMZ, which is the Euro Reverse Indiglo Gauge, which i bough from someone from eBay. I tried checking back at him through email, but i only get an auto response. I told him, i want a replacement, not a refund, since i like the look of the gauge for my galant.[/LIST]

if the gauge is working when u hook up the battery to it, its not the gauge itself thats the prbolem. without the aftermarket guages, does the oem gauges light up? if so then its probably your wiring thats the problem. what kinda connection are u using to connect the aftermarket gauges to the dimmer switch? is it that you used wire taps, or did u strip the wire and twisted them together or what?
