How to take off the cranjkshaft pulley?

Hoe do i take off the crank shaft pulley if the engine keeps spinning on me? I have a 96 galant with an automatic transmission...otherwise if i had a mt i would pu it in gear and hold the breaks.

Nevermind I used the starter to turn the engine It worked good. I will let u all know how it goes.

good lord. Do you see the giant square hole in the center of the pully bolt...stick a 1/2 drive socket extension connected to a ratchet wrnech...and use that to hold the gear from spinning.

Theres also a special tool you could buy to hold the thing but who needs special tools...
